What are jadeite A, B, and C?

In the past, there was no such concept in the market. Before the 1980s, all jadeite sold at that time were natural jadeite from Myanmar. Later, some unscrupulous traders used non-physical methods to process low-grade jadeite to make huge profits, so they differentiated A, B and C goods. Since then, it has become a trend to classify jadeite as A, B and C, and it is common knowledge that all collectors must understand.

A Goods (All Nature)

A goods refers to all-natural jade that showcases its original characteristics—color, texture, luster, and structure—without any artificial enhancements. These pieces are cherished for their authenticity and purity, making them ideal for those seeking genuine jade.

B Goods (Bleach)

B goods, or "Bleach," undergo a treatment process aimed at enhancing their appearance. This involves soaking jadeite in strong acid to remove impurities and restore its clarity. However, this process can compromise the jade's structural integrity, leading to a reduction in toughness. To reinforce the jade, manufacturers often apply glue or wax after treatment. As a result, B goods possess enhanced aesthetics but may lack the durability of all-natural jade.

C Goods (Color)

C goods are jade products that have been artificially dyed to alter their color. This process indicates a lower quality of jade, as the original hues are not preserved. Some C goods may also undergo additional treatments, such as pickling and filling with glue, leading to the classification of B+C goods. These pieces are typically more affordable but come with a higher degree of artificial processing.
